Goughs is the leading name of the most significant part of the Group's Business, the New Zealand Caterpillar dealership.
A wide cross-section of leading industries across many markets is supported by Goughs. These include forestry, construction, mining, quarrying, agriculture, roading, transport, power generation and marine propulsion.
Goughs provides a range of services tailored to the importation, specialised marketing and ongoing support of Caterpillar earthmoving, materials handling and logging equipment, Caterpillar engines and a range of related new and used equipment and attachments.
Goughs is the New Zealand dealer for both the Madill and Thunderbird brands of logging equipment, which superbly complements the Caterpillar business. Goughs is also the distributor of the Bitelli paving product range.
New Zealand's reputation as a builder of large ocean-going yachts and pleasure craft is having a positive spin-off for the company, with many owners choosing Caterpillar engines for these multi-million dollar craft.
Goughs has a national network of 14 branches and employs about 350 staff directly in the Cat dealership. Parts distribution centres in Auckland and Christchurch are supported by Caterpillar's Melbourne Distribution Centre, with inventory valued at more than $300M and numbering in excess of 160,000 line items.
Established in 2002, Goughs Institute of Training delivers industry focused learning programmes in the areas of pre-employment, apprentice, post-trade, machine operation and occupational health and safety. Supported by Goughs, the Institute provides state of the art, innovative and challenging learning opportunities for clients, employees and students.
Goughs is very optimistic about the future. Opportunities are coming from many areas, such as product line extensions from Caterpillar, and ongoing growth in key markets such as mining and construction.
