About the Group
Gough Gough & Hamer Investments Ltd is effectively the parent company of several business units that make up the Gough Group. The largest business unit is the Goughs Caterpillar dealership for New Zealand. Founded by Edgar Gough, Harry Hamer and Tracy Gough in 1929, the company's original focus on the electrical industry changed within three years of being founded, when it took over the Caterpillar dealership in 1932. Over the years it has been the Caterpillar name around which the company has grown, with the Hyster Forklifts (now part of Gough Forklifts) franchise being added in 1945. The company's head office, situated adjacent to the Christchurch Goughs branch, provides support to the Goughs' branches, and to the other Gough Group companies, in the form of management support, marketing, product support, treasury and funding, information systems, accounting, payroll and administration. |
